Princess twist

I love that my daughter's hair is long enough to play with and she loves letting me try new looks for her.
This was super easy to do and looks awesome when you take the bottom twist out as you nw have gorgeous curls!

I did two small braids on each side and joined them together with the purple clip.
I then took a 1 inch piece of hair and twisted in about 2 inches down and added an inch of hair from the right side, twisted again and repeat until you reach the end. Close with a hair elastic!

I have always made a lot of things myself, baked from scratch, made playdough, crocheted hats, scarves etc... but my list of things I no longer need to buy from a store is growing. I just started making my own flour, cereal bars, and juice. And I recently learned how to make my own laundry soap!

DYI has so many benefits....it saves money for one, perfect way to reduce, reuse and recycle and its natural (most of the time).

Cleaners
Things you buy to clean your house are so expensive for one but are not eco friendly and not healthy for you as they are typically made from nothing but chemicals.
Below are some things I use for household cleaning. All these items are very very inexpensive and last a very long time.

This is a list of the basics that I use to clean around the house, all these products are multi use and can be used for hundreds of things!

Lemon Juice
Baking soda
Borax
Washing soda*
White vinegar
Grapefruit
Salt

Citric is an awesome cleaner. I use lemon in the kitchen for cleaning.

I love lemon. I use tons of them in a lot of my cooking, in my water for drinking and for cleaning my kitchen.
Microwave- hate scrubbing your microwave with all that stuck on food? Fill a microwaveable mug 3/4 full of water, squeeze half a lemon into the water and throw the lemon right in too. Put the mug in the microwave and heat for 2-3 minutes until the water boils. Leave it in for 5 mins and allow the steam to loose everything in the microwave. Take the mug out and wipe down :) Its that easy! The lemon also freshens and odor that might be in there as well. And guess what? You can use that water too! Pour the water water down your drain along with 1/4 cup of baking soda, and if you have a garbage disposal toss the lemon in too.

Grapefruit and salt....who knew they could be used to clean in your bathroom! Can't get much easier than that :)

Simply cut the grapefruit in half, sprinkle salt on top and use to scrub your bathtub. It cleans so well and again adds a fresh clean scent to your bathroom.

Vinegar
Vinegar has so many uses and is just about the cheapest thing you can buy in such a large amount. It can be used for food and cooking of course but also around the house. I always buy the largest size of white vinegar I can find. Here are some of the things I use it for:

Instead of listing the million uses here is a website that I found recently that is fabulous and has literally 1001 uses :)

Borax
Borax people usually associate with laundry, which is what I purchased it for and have since learned that it has a lot of other uses as well. It is very affordable for a very large amount, less than $4.00 for a box. The box also lists all the other awesome uses for it. The best one I recently started doing is adding it to the bottom of the dishwasher to boost the cleaning. Just be careful not to add more than recommended as it can clog up the drainage and hoses.

*Washing soda
What is that you ask? I thought that myself as I was making laundry soap and the recipe called for this product that I have never heard of, and had a really hard time finding. Washing soda is also associated with laundry care. It is used to boost the power of your laundry soap, but again like the borax it also has a ton of other uses as well. I ended up finding Arm and Hammer washing soda at Walmart for less than $4.00. you can find it in the laundry section.

Baking soda
Baking soda is normally used for baking but again has a ton of uses. Check some of them out here.
